Some schools in the US are paying the students for behaving well, doing their homework, or performing well academically.

A report from AP:
WASHINGTON – Friday is payday at KIPP DC: KEY Academy, and some sixth-grade girls gather at the makeshift school store trying to decide how to spend their hard-earned money.

They received paychecks for behaving well, doing their homework or making academic gains. The money is pretend. But it can be used at the store for genuine items such as pens capped with fluffy feathers, pencil cases shaped like animals and colorful erasers.

What do you think about it, kids?

Gabby says: I don’t like it. I think it’s bad because it’s just like bribing them. They should study for the knowledge.

(Mommy thinks: Wow! I’m impressed with that answer!)

DJ says: I don’t really have an opinion about it, but I don’t think it’s that good.  Studying for money is not really good. They might buy useless things with the money. Can I go back to my game now?

(Mommy thinks: Oh-kay… sorry to interrupt your game, kiddo!)
